Cemetery Policy

  1. Lot sizes: Single: 5 x 10 ft. Double: 10 x 10 ft.  Limit of two single lots or one double lot per person.
  2. No new row will be started until the existing row is filled.
  3. All monuments or markers must be flush with the ground or at least 6 inches high.  No marker flush or upright may be established in such a manner that it extends beyond the boundaries of the designated lot or that will interfere with future grave openings.  All stones must have footings four feet deep.
  4. We recommend that all burial lots have corner markers and headstones.  These can be bought or homemade.  Permanent headstones are required within 6 months of a burial.
  5. For a regular burial, a vault of cement or cast metal is required.  For cremation, ashes are to be in a cremation container, such as an urn.  It needs to be buried 42 inches deep so there is 3 feet of dirt on top.  No scattering of ashes is permitted.  The number of cremated remains allowed on a lot is regulated by the trustees and limited to three.  Monument regulations permit a single monument of a size suitable for a single grave site.
  6. No trees, bushes, fences or other enclosures of any kind permitted on or around lots.  Wooden boxes, glass jars, bottles, toys and other unsightly objects will not be permitted.  Reasonable personal effect may be placed on grave of  up to 30 days after a burial, after which they must be removed by the person responsible for placing items on the grave.  If not, the trustees or employees will remove them without notice.  Extra decorations and structures that interfere with mowing will not be allowed.
  7. The township trustees or its employees assume no responsibility, liabilities or damages, actual or mental anguish in performance of its operations or loss by vandalism or other acts beyond its control.
  8. The trustees reserve the right to alter, change or close alleys, roadways and other physical properties of the cemetery.
  9. Families are responsible for their own lots and must maintain them.  This is not a perpetual cemetery.  Please keep the cemetery neat.
  10. No single lot can have a headstone with base wider than the lot of 5 feet.
  11. The cemetery driveway will be cleared of snow for all burials.  The trustees reserve the right to determine when or if the cemetery drive will be cleared for other reasons.
